Texas Bible College
From the Dean

Tim Hall - Dean of Music

The Department of Music exists in order to train and equip young men and women for the ministry of music in the local church. This well-rounded course of study combines biblical and musical instruction to make it comprehensive.  You will learn music theory, simple and complex keyboarding, how to conduct a choir, how to properly administer a church music program, and much more. The education of music alone, however, is incomplete without the Word of God.  Therefore, you will take various theology courses such as Systematic Theology where you will become instructed in basic core beliefs and doctrines.  You will also study the Epistles and the Essentials of Congregational Worship. Student life activities and classroom instruction combine together to give you a versatile learning experience.

Bible College is a place where many lasting friendships are made, and your relationship with God can be built with altars of consecration.  Thank you for your interest in the Department of Music.  Come experience what God has for you in the ministry of music.

Musical Opportunities

The TBC music program offers many opportunities experiences for those who desire to develop their abilities in this area.  Classroom instruction is only a small part of what makes up the Department of Music.  We feel that application is extremely important in helping aid in your growth.  Therefore, there are many practical experiences throughout the year.

Choir:  The Choir is open to all students whose interests and aptitude qualify, which is designed to acquaint the student with singing as it applies to larger groups. Performances are scheduled periodically throughout the school year.  The choir sings at area Sunday night services throughout the year as well as other special conferences and events.

Chorale:  The Chorale is an auditioned group of 27 singers separate from the choir that travel on special promotional tours representing the college throughout the year.  This is a rewarding learning experience for all who have the chance to participate. The Ensemble is a select group of nine auditioned singers that are held to the highest standard in all areas.

Ensemble:  The Ensemble is an auditioned group of 9 singers chosen out of the chorale.  The ensemble is involved in various traveling and singing engagements as well as serving as the front line for chorale.

Special Groups: Special singing groups are organized throughout the year, such as TBC singers, quartets, and trios.  These groups minister in special services and chapel.

Chapel:  Each chapel is led by a special praise team. Students desiring to be a part of leading worship in chapel are invited to be part of the praise team and are put on a schedule of rotation.

Music Conference: Texas Bible College hosts an annual music conference called Higher Ground.  This conference offers experience for all students by making them directly involved in every aspect of the conference.  Upper level music students may be asked to participate in the teaching of a class or group discussion.  These few days prove to be very exciting and informative.

Live Recording: The live recording takes place every other year.  It is filled with a wealth of experience in so many areas.  You will be involved with the recording process from start to finish! This could possibly be one of your most memorable moments at Bible College.

There is so much more that you will experience in the TBC Department of Music.  It is a growing, thriving department at Texas Bible College. All of these experiences, combined with classroom instruction, provide a multifaceted approach to the Department of Music.
